La Paloma is a charming, beautiful little town. The hotel is a couple of miles from the downtown area where most of the restaurants and shops are located.but this was not a problem for us.we walked, rode the hotel bicycles, or took a taxi into town when we needed to. Had we arrived a few weeks earlier, we could have seen whales from our balcony. They were truly a delight! A few notes about location: The hotel is perfectly situated right across the street from the beach. From providing our breakfast every day to helping us plan day trips to figuring out the best transportation options for other legs of our trip, the staff at Zen could not have been more helpful. But with some persistence and Google Translate, we managed just fine. None of the staff speaks much English and we speak very little Spanish. Once we arrived, we learned that Tamara and Andres had gone out of town at the last minute. Tamara was quick to respond to our numerous email inquiries before we arrived. The staff went out of their way to meet our every need. But the people make the difference at this hotel. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable, with a gorgeous ocean view. Staying at Zen was the highlight of our trip.
